No. To be absolutely clear:

No.

It is your responsibility to make sure you have your ID valid and in your possession well in advance of FurDU.

If you need to acquire photographic government-issued ID before attending FurDU, and you are Australian, we strongly suggest getting a Proof-of-Age card from the state or territory you live in as soon as possible. Fees range from $6 (ACT) to $69 (QLD), but many states and territories offer discounts or will let you apply for one for free if you are receiving certain types of Centrelink benefits. Go to your respective state/territory government’s website and search for “proof of age card”.

Queensland residents only: If you have paid for a new licence/ID but are still waiting for it in the mail, you must bring your old ID that you are replacing and the full Renewal Receipt issued by the Department of Transport and Main Roads (with proof of payment attached). If you have only the receipt and no old ID, you will not be given your conbadge, and cannot attend. I’m not an artist. Can I still deal in the Dealers’ Den?

Of course! We do ask that content being sold be relevant to the fandom however. We have authors and musicians as well as resellers for numerous furry knicknacks come along each year.

I’d like to put something in the Charity Art Show. How do I do this?

Contact us! We are eternally grateful for the generosity the community shows every year.

I want to participate in the fursuit dance comp! How do I get in on that?

Join our Facebook event here to get involved!

I’d like to DJ at the convention. How, when and where do I apply?

How do I volunteer?

We are taking expressions of interest for volunteers through [email protected]. Email there or fill out the form on the website.

I’m kind of new to the fandom. What if I don’t know anyone at the convention?

Furries are a pretty friendly bunch, especially come convention time! Try introducing yourself during one of the participatory events. Make sure to go to the First Con panel. We have a facebook group that gets pretty active around convention time and we have a telegram group (https://telegram.me/Furdu_2017) to say hello if you’re not the facebook type. With a little effort, you’ll find yourself making new fuzzy friends in no time :3

Is the area outside the con space safe for fursuiting my myself or in a small group?

It’s generally not recommended to go fursuiting by yourself. Best practice is to have a handler there for the sake of explaining things to the public, who can find the spectacle confusing and might react strangely. Groups are better still. Be mindful that the nearby area of Cavile Avenue is in fact private property, and given that performers in this area pay a fee to be able to perform in the street there, you may be asked to move on so as not to distract from people trying to make a living. The beach is nicer anyway. 😉 Give that a go.

I don’t want to be photographed or recorded. How do I avoid this?

If you do not want to be filmed/photographed please make an effort to inform those with a camera. If something is being filmed or a group photo is being taken use common sense and move out of shot. If you feel like you have been photographed, politely ask the individual to remove the photo of you. Any additional trouble, please contact con-staff.

I’ve received threats from (an ex lover, a crazy, the tax office) or have reason not to want them near me at the con. Can you keep them out for me?

The safety of our patrons is a primary concern to us and we will do all we can to ensure everyone attending the convention is comfortable. Threats are a serious matter and although we are limited in what we can do, we will refer you onto the proper authorities.

Someone is bothering me/following me around/being inappropriate, what do I do?

FurDU is dedicated to providing a safe and comfortable convention experience for everyone. Harassment of any kind, including physical assault, deliberate intimidation, stalking, verbal or sexual abuse of any kind, or unwelcome attention, will NOT be tolerated. If people tell you “no” or to leave them alone, your business with them is done. No means NO! Defences like “I thought they were only joking” will not be tolerated! We take this issue seriously if someone won’t take no for an answer come and see us at Con-Ops.

I want to contribute more! Can I donate to the convention?

FurDU prefers not to take donations, and instead offers the sponsor upgrade option as a way for the community to help support us, while receiving something in return. We’re always keen on volunteers though!
